The Swiss Association of Psychiatric Trainees SVPA-ASMAP-ASAP is pleased to announce its active involvement in the SGPP-SSPP Congress 2025, taking place from September 18 to 19 at the Congress Center Basel. This year’s congress, themed “Psyche, Human, Brain: Psychiatry at the Center”, will feature a diverse program including keynote lectures, workshops, symposia, and poster sessions. Renowned speakers such as Claudio Bassetti (Bern), Indrit Bègue (Geneva), Kristina Adorjan (Bern), Raphaël Gaillard (Paris), and Thomas Fuchs (Heidelberg) will contribute their insights. Additionally, the newly introduced “SGPP Academy” will offer integrated courses on current topics, eliminating the need for separate registration.

In conjunction with the main congress, SVPA-ASMAP-ASAP is proud to co-organize the Pre-Congress or Residents’ Day on September 17, 2025, at the Universitäre Psychiatrische Kliniken (UPK) Basel. This dedicated day aims to support psychiatry residents through a comprehensive program.
The morning will feature parallel workshops tailored to linguistic and educational needs: Residents can attend sessions for the specialty programme and exams and afterwards a workshop addressing insurance-related topics.
Following a joint welcome session with brief presentations from SVPA-ASMPA-ASAP and SGPP-SSPP representatives, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with experts during a lunch break. The afternoon program includes sessions on ADHD, ethics and psychedelics, and a panel discussion titled “Psyche, Human Being, Brain,” featuring esteemed speakers. The day concludes with a research-focused session and an informal networking event.
The Resident Day is primarily conducted in English, with selected workshops in German and French, and is free of charge for all attendees, thanks to the support of our educational partners. The SVPA encourages all residents and early-career psychiatrists to participate in this unique opportunity for learning and professional development.
We warmly invite all colleagues to register for both the Pre-Congress and the main Congress, confident that these events will offer significant opportunities for personal and professional growth, as well as meaningful networking. More information is available on the official congress website.
