For the first time, the SSPP Congress opened with an entire day dedicated exclusively to medical residents and students.
This pre-congress was organized in collaboration with the SSPP board, the scientific committee of the congress, and the Swiss Association of Psychiatry Residents (SVPA-ASMAP-ASAP). Thanks to the support of sponsors, this day was free of charge for the residents.
With 120 participants from all over Switzerland, the pre-congress was a success and addressed the need for further education and professional development among residents.
The topics covered were tailored to the practical and clinical interests of those in training. The invited experts presented exciting and important topics related to current psychiatric practice in Switzerland, ranging from the importance of resilience in the clinical setting to ethical conflicts in our profession, as well as insights into the past and future of psychiatry, and the limitations of future research and artificial intelligence.
The workshop “Logbook and Information on FAP Exams” garnered particular interest from residents, highlighting the great need for more information and support regarding the organization of training across different regions. The SVPA-ASMAP-ASAP will continue to be committed to supporting residents on their path to board certification.
The direct exchange with the residents was very enlightening. The regional differences in training and working conditions present a challenge in Switzerland. We hope that the pre-congress will foster greater exchange among residents, enabling them to better meet the demands of their daily clinical work and to strengthen resilience together!
We are pleased to announce that this pilot day will be permanently integrated into the program of future congresses!
